Lars & the Real Girl

Recommended DVD.
Last night I went to friend's house (Larry & Anne's) and along with a few friends had movie night. After feasting on more food that I should had, Larry started the movie - Lars and the Real Girl. I'd never heard of this movie till I was invited to come over and watch it. It was hilarious in that off-beat way I love. Pick it up the next time your in the rental store.
Two reviews of this film follow:
Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times observed, "The film ... wisely never goes for even one moment that could be interpreted as smutty or mocking ... There are so many ways [it] could have gone wrong that one of the film's fascinations is how adroitly it sidesteps them. Its weapon is absolute sincerity ... It has a kind of purity to it."
Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle called the film "a gentle comedy, offbeat but never cute, never lewd and never going for shortcut laughs that might diminish character."

Paintball War!

Today we went to our semi-annual paintball game at Paintball to Go. As usual, it was a blast though I'm quite happy to say that my fingers survived better this time than the last two times I went when I couldn't move my fingers for a few days after taking hard hits.

We played four hours and I am exhausted! We had a group of about 21 (or so people) including me, Ryan, Brent, Jake, Chris, Jenni, Beth Ann, Tim, Mar, Bill, Mason, Mark, Scott, and okay...I'm too tired to remember the rest. But I'm posting some pictures of the fun times so all will be seen.

Who would have thought I'd like to do paintball wars? I don't even allow wrestling to be watched in my house and I hate violence but something about it is so much fun. The teams were pretty evenly divided on wins, though I think in the end Ryan's team beat mine by one round.

New blog for Cheryl

Everyone has their own web site and blogs these days and I'm so behind the times. I have a myspace, but honestly, I hardly ever go there and find it not what I'm looking for when I'm wanting to blog or post pictures for my family and friends to see. So, I'm attempting this. We'll see how it works. I'm hoping I can post at least a few photos and will have to figure all that out. Not that I have time. I'm so swamped with work that I think I could work nonstop for the next month without even sleeping or eating and still not be caught up. I keep trying to hire someone (teenager) to come in and work for a me a couple hours a day but I guess all teenagers (mine included) get enough money from their parents that they don't feel they have to work. I'm hoping someday that Hailey will be old enough to work with me because she is the one that will love the whole jewelry thing.

Anyhow, speaking of Hailey. I went on a field trip with her class yesterday. It is just me, or are 4th graders getting smaller? I know Hailey is in the top 1/3 of her class for height, but she seems small to me also. Now, back to the topic....we went to the Lincoln Presidential Library here in Springfield. It is a fabulous library. I've been there a couple times but have never taken the time to really look through it the way I'd like to - by myself. If I'm with someone I don't feel I can sit and really take the time to look at all I'd like to because they want to move on. So, someday, and I'm putting this on my list of things to do, I want to go there BY MYSELF and spend a day. Maybe some cold day this winter when it won't be crowded....that is, if I can ever get caught up on work.

So, I'll attempt to post a photo or two of Hailey and her friends.
